Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that will assist you in purchasing and using our New Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards.

1. Where and how do I buy the New Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards?

Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards can be purchased in any denomination from $10 to $500 at our customer service booth during mall hours. Customer Service is located on the lower level across from La Senza. Cash, debit card, VISA, MasterCard are accepted forms of payment.

2. Are there activation fees associated with buying a Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card?

Yes, each card is subject to an activation fee of $2.00 per card (plus HST), however, the more Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards you purchase, the lower the per card activation fee. Enjoy the rewards of bulk purchasing! 1-10 Cards $2.00 plus HST ($2.30) 11-50 Cards $1.00 plus HST ($1.15) 51 + No Fee

3. Does the Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card Expire?

Your Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card will never expire. However, if there is a remaining balance on the card after the magnetic stripe has expired (there is an expiry date printed on the front of each Gift Card) similar to a credit card security feature, please visit our Guest Services location for a card replacement.

4. Does the Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® have any maintenance fees?

A monthly maintenance fee of $2.50 is only deducted when there is a balance left on the card 16 months after its activation date. You may have the maintenance free period extended to 19 months by requesting an extension in the 15 month. Requests can be directed to 1-800-840-5604.

5. Where can Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards be used?

Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards can be used at almost all Halifax Shopping Centre and Halifax Shopping Centre Annex retailers including Sears, Wal-Mart, Sobeys, Winners, Sears Outlet, and Pier I Imports.

Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards are currently not accepted at Aliant for bill payments, Atlantic Dental, Eastlink, First Choice Haircutters, Atlantic Lotto, Maritime Marlin Travel, Nova Vision, Orange Julius, Subway and Tim Horton’s.

Sears will accept the Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card providing the gift card balance is greater than the Sears purchase amount. Sears point of sale system does not allow two methods of payment( ie: gift card and cash/visa/debit).

6. How do I use the Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card?

Before you start shopping make sure the store accepts Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Cards. If the answer is yes, before ringing through your purchase, let the sales associate know you are using a Mall Gift Card. Also make sure the store knows what the balance is on the gift card.

7. How Can I check the balance on my Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card?

To check your gift card balance you can call 1-800-755-8608 24 hours a day or visit www.getmybalance.com. You can also visit the Halifax Shopping Centre Customer Service Booth to during mall hours.

8. Can I add more money to my Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card?

For security purposes the Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card cannot be reloaded.

9. What if I want to return the purchase I made using a Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card?

Depending on the retailer’s return policy, you may receive a store credit, or where permitted a refund on merchandise can be credited to the Gift Card, which is why you should keep the gift card until you know a refund will not be required. A refund to the Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card can take 3 to 7 business days before the credit appears.

10. What if my Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card is lost or stolen?

Make sure you keep your receipt in case your Halifax Shopping Centre MasterCard® Gift Card is lost or stolen. Providing you have your receipt, The remaining balance can be locked and transferred onto a new card.

11. Corporate Orders

She will be happy to prepare your order and have it available for pick up at either our Management Office or our Guest Services location.

12. Will my old Halifax Shopping Centre gift cards still be honored?

Yes, all Halifax Shopping Centre Gift Cards will be accepted at participating retailers.
